Ning Lyu, Ph.D., M.S.

Ning Lyu is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy at the University of Florida College of Pharmacy. Her research focuses on pediatric pharmacoepidemiology and the use of real-world data to evaluate medication safety, effectiveness, and utilization in children and adolescents. Her work spans several areas of pediatric therapeutics, including psychotropic medications and biologic therapies for inflammatory bowel disease and other autoimmune conditions.

She is particularly interested in the use of large health care databases to address questions that are difficult to study in traditional clinical trials, particularly in pediatric populations where evidence is often limited. Her work applies methods such as causal inference, target trial emulation, and predictive modeling to generate real-world evidence on medication safety and effectiveness.

Dr. Lyu received her PhD in Pharmaceutical Health Outcomes and Policy from the University of Houston, her MS in Econometrics and Quantitative Economics from Texas A&M University, and her BS in Economics from Sichuan University. Before joining the University of Florida, she completed postdoctoral training at Harvard Medical School and Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where she conducted research in pediatric pharmacoepidemiology and regulatory science.

Her long-term research goal is to generate evidence that can support safer and more effective medication use in children and adolescents and help address important evidence gaps in pediatric therapeutics.
