Shobhan Kumar, M.Tech, Ph.D.

Shobhan Kumar, M.Tech, Ph.D., is a Postdoctoral Associate in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) at the University of Florida. At UF, Dr. Kumar is dedicated to advancing healthcare through his development of an innovative NLP model. His research work aims to extract valuable insights from complex Electronic Health Records (EHRs), enhancing knowledge inferencing and contributing to the creation of advanced AI-based patient care systems.

Prior to his postdoctoral position, Dr. Kumar obtained his Ph.D. degree in NLP from the Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Dharwad, India. He also holds a Master of Technology (M.Tech) and a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) in Computer Science and Engineering from the prestigious Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) in Karnataka, India.

Throughout his academic journey, Dr. Kumar has fostered a profound interest in a diverse range of NLP topics. These include Generative AI, Question-Answering systems, Semantic search, Recommendation systems, Information retrieval, and the analysis of unstructured clinical notes.
