POP Seminar Guest Speaker, Shao-Hsuan (Brendan) Chang, BSPharm, MS., and Priyanka Kulkarni, MPH, B. Pharm, 11/7/2024

Please join us Thursday, 11/07/2024 for POP Research Seminar of the Fall 2024, held from 11:30 am-1:00 pm in NVIDIA Auditorium (1st Floor). We will be welcoming Shao-Hsuan (Brendan) Chang, BSPharm, MS., and Priyanak Kulkarni, MPH., B.Pharm, as our seminar speakers.

Priyanka Kulkarni, MPH, B.Pharm, is a third-year PhD student at the Dept of POP working under the mentorship of Dr. Winterstein. She has a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the Institute of Chemical Technology, which has been granted elite status and center for excellence by the Government of India. She subsequently completed her MPH at Boston University majoring in Epidemiology and Biostatistics. She has work experience conducting program and policy evaluation, and her last position before joining UF was as a Data Coordinator at UPenn, where she performed systematic literature reviews of clinical trials to inform treatment prioritization for COVID-19 patients. She is currently involved in investigating antihypertensive prescribing cascades and the effectiveness and patterns of use of medical cannabis. Priyanka’s seminar title presented is: “Persistence in Medical Marijuana Use Among Certified Residents in the State of Florida”

Shao-Hsuan (Brendan) Chang, BS. Pharm, MS, is a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy under the supervision of Dr. Park. He received his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from Taipei Medical University in Taiwan and his MS from the POP last year. His research interests centered on liver diseases and cancer with the use of  pharmacoepidemiology methods and pharmacoeconomic modeling. Brendan’s seminar title is: “Effects of direct-acting antivirals on end-stage liver disease and mortality among Florida Medicaid beneficiaries with chronic hepatitis C
