POP Seminar: Fanxing Du, Alaa Abdullah Alshehri and Dr. Nakyung Jeon

Please join us Monday 2/26/2024 for POP Research Seminar of the Spring 2024, held from 10:45am-12:00 pm in Malachowsky Hall, DSIT Bldg. Room 7200. We will be welcoming Fanxing Du, MPH, Alaa Abdullah Alshehri, PharmD, MSc, and Guest Speaker Nakyung Jeon, PhD, MPH, BPharm, as our Seminar speakers.

Fanxing Du, MPH, second-year PhD student working with Dr. Jiao. She received her Bachelor’s degree of Engineering from Liaoning University in China, and received her Master of Public Heath degree from School of Public Health, Fudan University in China. Her current research interest includes cardiovascular disease and cancer. Her seminar title is: “The Impact of De-escalating Antihypertensive Drugs: A Secondary Analysis of the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT)”

Alaa Abdullah Alshehri, PharmD, MSc, is a third-year PhD student currently working with Dr. Svensson. In 2017, I graduated from King Faisal University with a PharmD degree. From 2018 to 2021, I worked as a teaching assistant at the Department of Pharmacy Practice at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University.
In fall 2021, I started my master’s program at the Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy Department, which I completed in spring 2023. My research interests revolve around pharmacoeconomics and decision-making models for Hemophilia and gene therapy. Additionally, I am interested in improving patient care access and enhancing quality of life. Her seminar title is: “A Systematic Review of Cost-Effectiveness Analyses of Gene Therapy Treatments for Hemophilia Type A and B”

Guest Speaker Dr. Nakyung Jeon, PhD., MPH, BPharm, completed her Doctoral degree in Pharmacoepidemiology (Advisor: Dr. Winterstein) at University of Florida in Spring 2017 and is an assistant professor at Pusan National University College of Pharmacy in South Korea. Her research interests are utilizing real-world healthcare data to inform the management of patients in critical care setting and with type 1 diabetes mellites. her seminar title is: “Leveraging South Korea’s secondary data for health outcomes research”
