Please join us Thursday 11/02/2023 for POP Research Seminar of the Fall 2023, held from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in Communicore Bldg. Room CG-11. We will be welcoming Wei-Han(William) Chen, MS, and Pilar Hernandez Con, MD, MSCE, as our seminar speakers.
Wei- Han (William) Chen, MS, is a third-year PhD student in the Department of POP, mentored by Dr. Guo. He received his BS in Pharmacy from Taipei Medical University in 2016 and later pursued his MS degree in POP. His research primarily revolves around pharmacoepidemiology, with a particular emphasis on cardiovascular diseases and Alzheimer’s disease. His seminar title is: “A Fair Individualized Risk Score for Identifying Risks Hospitalization among Patients with Alzheimer Disease and Related Dementia”
Pilar Hernandez Con, MD, MSCE, is a graduate assistant and a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, University of Florida. She received her M.D. degree from the Universidad de Costa Rica and her MSCE from the University of Pennsylvania. She practiced as a primary care physician for six years in her native country (Costa Rica) before starting her training in epidemiology / pharmacoepidemiology. Pilar’s research interest lies in the intersection between pharmacoepidemiology and health services research, in a broad range of disease areas including Parkinson’s disease, HCV infection and NAFLD. Her seminar title presented is: “Association of Oral Direct-Acting Antiviral Therapy with Development of Parkinson’s Disease in Patients with Chronic Hepatitis C Virus”
