POP Seminar: Huilin Tang and Shailina Keshwani

Please join us Thursday 10/26/2023 for POP Research Seminar of the Fall 2023, held from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in HPNP Auditorium (room 1404). We will be welcoming Huilin Tang, MSc, and Shailina Keshwani, MSc as our seminar speakers.

Huilin Tang, MSc is a third-year Ph.D. student at the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, with Dr. Jingchuan (Serena) Guo as his advisor. He received his master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy from Peking University in China. Before joining POP, he worked as a clinical pharmacist at Peking University Third Hospital and a research associate at Indian University. His research interest is pharmacoepidemiology and machine learning with a focus on diabetes and neurodegenerative disease. Currently, Huilin has received two Predoctoral Fellowship from PhRMA and AFPE. His seminar title is: “Sodium-Glucose Cotransporter-2 Inhibitors and Risk of Parkinson’s Disease Among Older Patients with Type 2 Diabetes”

Shailina Keshwani, MSc is a final year PhD student working under the supervision of Dr. Smith. She received her Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from Mumbai University, India and master’s degree from UF POP department. She has previously interned at Sentinel and Xenda. Her dissertation research focuses on pain medication use in patients with hypertension and osteoarthritis. Her seminar title presented is: “Analgesic use and the presence of hypertension among Medicare beneficiaries newly diagnosed with osteoarthritis.”
