POP Seminar: Ikenna Unigwe, B.S., Pharm.D., M.S. and Earl Morris, PharmD., MPH 12/01/2022

Please join us Thursday, 12/01/2022 for POP Research Seminar of the Fall 2022, held from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in Medical Sciences Building 6120. We will be welcoming  Ikenna Unigwe, B.S., Pharm.D., M.S., and Earl Morris, PharmD., MPH., as our seminar speakers.   

Ike Unigwe & Earl MorrisIkenna Unigwe, is a McKnight doctoral fellow in his fourth year of the PhD program in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, with Dr. Haesuk Park as his advisor. He attended The University of Mississippi (UM), where he earned his bachelor’s in Biochemistry and his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. He practiced as a Pharmacist in Mississippi, Georgia, and Ohio before beginning his PhD training at The University of Florida in 2019. His practice experience includes consulting and community pharmacy practice. His research interests center around infectious diseases, particularly comparative effectiveness and safety research in HIV and Hepatitis-C. His seminar title is: “Adherence Trajectories of PrEP and HIV Incidence, Using Group-Based Trajectory Modeling”.

Earl Morris, is a fourth-year PhD student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, working under the direction of Dr. Vouri. He received two bachelor’s degrees (one in Biological Sciences and one in Chemistry) from Arkansas State University in 2015. He also received a Master’s in Public Health and PharmD from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in 2019. His interests include geriatric pharmacoepidemiology, prescribing cascades, and inappropriate prescribing. The project he is presenting today was conducted under the joint supervision of Dr. Vouri, as well as Dr. Molly Jacobs and Dr. Lee Revere in the Department of Health Services Research, Management, and Policy in the College of Public Health and Health Professions at UF. This work aimed to identify the impact of ACO participation on medical expenditures among Florida Medicare fee-for-service beneficiaries. His seminar title is: “Participation in Accountable Care Organizations and Associated Medical Expenditures among Florida Medicare Beneficiaries”.
