POP Seminar: Celeste Ewig, M.S., Pharm.D. and Huilin Tang, M.Sc., 10/27/2022

Please join us Thursday, 10/27/2022 for POP Research Seminar of the Fall 2022, held from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in Medical Sciences Building 6120. We will be welcoming  Celeste Ewig , M.S. , Pharm.D., and Huilin Tang, M.Sc.,as our seminar speakers.   

Celeste & HuilinCeleste Ewig, is a second year PhD student at the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy.  She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Pacfic and her pediatric clinical training at the Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles. Prior to joining the Department, she was an academic pediatric pharmacist in Hong Kong. Her primary research interest is in the application of pharmacoepidemiology to address clinical dilemmas regarding medication use in both pregnant and pediatric populations. Her faculty mentor is Dr. Almut Winterstein and her presentation title is: “Utilization of biologics before, during and after pregnancy in patients with pre-conception biologic use: A comparison across autoimmune conditions”.

Huilin Tang, is a second-year Ph.D. student at the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, with Dr. Jingchuan (Serena) Guo as his advisor. He received his master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy from Peking University in China. Before joining POP, he worked as a clinical pharmacist at Peking University Third Hospital and then as a research associate at Indiana University. His research interest is pharmacoepidemiology and machine learning, focusing on diabetes and neurodegenerative disease. His seminar title is: “Heterogeneous Treatment Effects of Metformin on Risk of Dementia in Patients with Diabetes: A Longitudinal Observational Study.”
