POP Seminar: William Chen and Alaa Alshehri, 09/01/2022

william and alaaPlease join us Thursday, 09/01/2022 for POP Research seminar of the Fall 2022, held from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in Medical Sciences Building 6120. We will be welcoming Wei-Han (William) Chen, BS and Alaa Abdullah Alshehri, PharmD as our seminar speakers.

William is a second-year master’s student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes & Policy under supervision of Dr. Guo. He earned his BS in Pharmacy degree from Taipei Medical University in 2016. Prior to joining POP, he was a registered pharmacist in a dermatological clinic in Taiwan. His research interest lies in pharmacoepidemiology and focuses on cardiovascular diseases. His seminar title presented is: “Geographic Variation and Racial Disparities in Newer Glucose-lowering Drugs Adoption amount UF Medicare Beneficiaries with Type 2 Diabetes.”

Alaa is second year master student working with Dr. Shao. She graduated from King Faisal University with a PharmD degree in 2017. In 2018, She started working at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University as a teaching assistant in the department of pharmacy practice till 2021. Alaa started her master’s program at Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy in the fall of 2021. Her research interest are pharmacoeconomic and the utilization of newer classes of glucose-lowering drugs among type 2 diabetes. Her seminar title presented is: “Racial/Ethnic and Socioeconomic Disparities in the Utilization of  GLP-1 RA and SGLT2i among US Adults with Type 2 Diabetes by Cardiovascular and Renal Disease Indications (2018-2019).”
