POP Seminar Guest Speaker/Faculty Candidate: Md Mahmudul Hasan, PhD on 02/28/2022

md mahmudul hasanPlease join us Monday, 02/28/2022 for POP Research seminar of the Spring 2022, held from 11:00am – 12:00pm in Communicore building, Room C1-04, or via Zoom. We will be welcoming  Md Mahmudul Hasan, PhD as our seminar speaker.

Dr. Hasan is an Oak Ridge Institute of Science and Education (ORISE) Postdoctoral Fellow of Drug Safety and Artificial Intelligence Methods in the Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) at the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Dr. Hasan has completed his PhD in Industrial Engineering at the Decision Analytics Lab at Northeastern University. He was also an active member of Northeastern’s Center for Health Policy and Healthcare Research. Dr. Hasan conducts data-driven research to address complex challenges in public health, contributing to healthcare decision-making, policy, and management. From a methodological standpoint, Dr. Hasan leverages management and data science techniques, in particular AI/machine learning, statistical modeling, and operations research techniques. He has collaborated in several interdisciplinary research projects (partly funded by CDC in partnership with the Massachusetts Department of public health and Northeastern Global Resilience Institute) that address critical issues surrounding the opioid overdose epidemic, physicians’ inappropriate practice style due to practice migration, preventable hospital readmission, and proactive planning for hospitals during slow-onset emergencies. Dr. Hasan’s research also focuses on developing an intelligent Multi-criteria Decision-Making framework for resilient supplier selection in logistics 4.0. He has gained extensive training and experience in collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams that include scientists/faculty members from business school, public health and economics, state and federal agencies, and clinicians from the state-leading hospitals.

His seminar title is: “Leveraging Analytics to Inform Policies and Develop Decision Frameworks for Addressing Opioid Overdose Epidemic.”
