POP Seminar: Phuong Tran and Nistha Shrestha, 01/20/2022

Phuong tran NisthaPlease join us Thursday, 01/20/2022 for POP Research seminar of the Fall 2021, held from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in Communicore C1-04. We will be welcoming Phuong Tran, MPH, B.Pharm. and Nistha Shrestha, MPH, B.Pharm. as our seminar speakers.

Phuong is a 4th year PhD student in POP department working with Dr. Winterstein. She got a pharmacy degree at University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Viet Nam and Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University with an additional certificate in Drug Safety and Effectiveness. Her research interests are infectious diseases, including medications to treat or vaccines to prevent these infections. Her seminar title presented is: Utilization and impact of telemedicine on antibiotic prescribing before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Nistha is a second-year Ph.D. student at the POP department at the University of Florida, under the supervision of Dr. Brown, Dr. Guo, and Dr. Shao. She has a background in pharmacy and has worked as a research pharmacist in Nepal for two years. Nistha has completed her Master’s in Public Health in Epidemiology from the University of North Texas Health Science Center. She is interested in pharmacoepidemiologic studies in older adults. Her research interests include cognitive impairment and infectious diseases.  Her seminar title presented is: Severity of respiratory infection hospitalization and risk for thrombotic event readmissions in older adults.”
