POP Seminar: Motomori Lewis and Raj Densai, 11/04/2021

Motomori.RajPlease join us Thursday, 11/04/2021 for POP Research seminar of the Fall 2021, held from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in HPNP Auditorium, Room HPNP 1404. We will be welcoming Motomori Lewis, B.S.  and Raj Desai, M.S. as our seminar speakers.

Motomori Lewis is a third year Ph.D. student who joined the POP program in Fall 2018. Motomori received her Bachelor’s degrees in Public Health and Biomedical Sciences from the University of South Florida. She is a recipient of the McKnight Doctoral Fellowship award and SURF program. Her research interests include applying pharmacoepidemiologic methods to the study of sickle cell disease and other vulnerable populations. Her mentor is Dr. Jenny LoCiganic.  Her seminar title presented is: Geographic Variation of Problematic Prescription Opioid Use in Medicare Beneficiaries.

Raj Desai  is currently a 5th year Ph.D student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy working under the supervision of Dr. Steven Smith and Dr. Haesuk Park. He received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Institute of Chemical Technology in India and his Master’s in Pharmacy Administration from St. John’s University in New York. His current research interests include evaluating long term safety and effectiveness outcomes in treated hypertensive adults.  His mentor is Dr. Joshua Brown.  His seminar title presented is: Risk of thrombosis associated with drug-drug interactions between oral hormonal contraceptives and verapamil or diltiazem.”
