Please join us Thursday, 03/11/2021 for POP Research seminar of the Spring 2021, held from 11:45 am-1:15 pm in Communicore, Room C1-04, or via Zoom. We will be welcoming Earl Morris, Pharm.D, MPH and Sebastian Jugl, B.S.Pharm, RPh as our seminar speakers.
Earl Morris is a second-year PhD student in the Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy program at UF, working under the direction of Dr. Vouri. He received two bachelor’s degrees (B.S. in Biological Sciences and B.S. in Chemistry) from Arkansas State University in 2015. After completing his undergraduate training, he attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he graduated with a PharmD and MPH in 2019. He joined our program in the fall of 2019, and his research interests include identifying and decreasing the prescribing of inappropriate medication in older adults, prescribing cascades, and pharmacovigilance.
His seminar title presented is: “Trends in Statin Initiation for Secondary Prevention of Atherosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease in Adults > 75 Years Old.” His mentor/advisor is Dr. Scott Vouri.
Sebastian Jugl is is a second-year Ph.D. student with Dr. Winterstein as his advisor. Sebastian received his Staatsexamen (pharmacy degree) in 2017, his pharmacy license in 2019, and joined the Department in Fall 2019. Since joining POP, Sebastian has been engaged in studies focusing on medical cannabis, women health issues, and cancer, and his interests lay mainly in the field of pharmacoepidemiology. Besides this, Sebastian is also an author for the German pharmacist association (DPhG) for whom he regularly publishes articles about clinical guidelines in the pharmacy.
His seminar title presented is: “The risk of intracranial meningioma requiring surgical intervention among recent hormonal contraceptives users.” His mentor/advisor is Dr. Almut Winterstein.
