POP Seminar: Raj Desai & Nicole Smolinski on Thurs, Feb 25, 2021

Nicole.Raj.Announcement.2021Feb25Please join us Thursday, 02/25/2021 for POP Research seminar of the Spring 2021, held from 11:45 am-1:15 pm in Communicore, Room C1-04, or via Zoom. We will be welcoming Raj Desai M.S. and Nicole Smolinski, Pharm.D. as our seminar speakers.

Raj Desai is currently a 4th year Ph.D student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy working under the supervision of Dr Steven Smith and Dr Haesuk Park. He received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Institute of Chemical Technology in India and his Master’s in Pharmacy Administration from St. John’s University in New York. His current research interests include evaluating long term safety and effectiveness outcomes in treated hypertension patients.

His seminar title presented is: Care discontinuity and accuracy of developing new user cohorts: Linking Electronic Health Records with Administrative Claims data.” Her mentor/advisor is Dr. Stephen Smith.

Nicole Smolinski is a second-year PhD student in POP. She received two bachelor’s degrees in child psychology and chemistry from University of Minnesota in 2015. She then received her Pharm.D. from Midwestern University in 2019. Her main research interest is pediatric infectious disease with a special interest in otitis media and overuse of antibiotics in the pediatric population.

Her seminar title presented is: Trends in the Diagnosis and Treatment of Acute Otitis Media in the Commercially Insured Pediatric Population, 2008-2018.” Her mentor/advisor is Dr. Almut Winterstein.
