Please join us Thursday, 11/05/2020 for POP Research seminar of the Fall 2020, held from 11:00 am-12:30 pm in the Health Professions, Nursing, and Pharmacy Building Auditorium (Room HPNP 1404) or via Zoom. We will be welcoming, Amir Sarayani, Pharm.D., M.P.H. as our seminar speaker.

Amir Sarayani completed a PharmD/MPH program in 2012 at Tehran University of Medical Sciences, Iran. Beside pharmacy practice, he worked as a research fellow at the Research Center for Rational Use of Drugs where he was involved in several quality improvement projects, clinical trials, and drug utilization research. He also enjoyed working as a pharmacy manager in a tertiary hospital before joining the POP PhD program in 2017. His research portfolio covers drug safety and risk management, comparative effectiveness research, and quality improvement studies.

He will present two projects:

1.) Impact of the transition from ICD–9–CM to ICD–10–CM on the identification of pregnancy episodes in U.S. health insurance claims data

2.) The State of Drug Safety in the Era of Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategy (REMS) policy – A Case Study on Fetal Exposure to Potentially Teratogenic Medications
