Dr. Weihsuan “Jenny” Lo-Ciganic to lead virtual ISPOR workshop on machine learning

Weihsuan “Jenny” Lo-Ciganic, Ph.D., M.S., M.S.Pharm., will lead a short course workshop on machine learning as part of the International Society for Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research’s Virtual ISPOR 2020 Conference from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. EST on Monday, July 27.

Lo-Ciganic, as assistant professor in the University of Florida College of Pharmacy’s department of pharmaceutical outcomes and policy, will lead Introduction to Machine Learning Methods alongside experts from the University of Arizona’s Helen Zhang, Ph.D., and Optum’s John Seeger, Pharm.D., Dr.P.H., M.P.H.

The workshop will give an overview of basic machine learning concepts and provide an introduction to a few commonly used machine learning techniques and their practical applications in health care and pharmaceutical outcomes research. Participants will have hands-on practical experiences with machine learning and gain experience interpreting and evaluating the results and prediction performance that comes from machine learning modeling.
