POP Seminar: Raj Desai & Phuong Pham on Thurs, April 23, 2020

pham.desai.announcementPlease join us Thursday, 04/23/2020 for POP Research seminar of the Spring 2020, held from 1:00pm-2:30 pm via Zoom only, see below).   We will be welcoming our graduate students Raj Desai, M.S. and Phuong Pharm, MSPH, B.S.Pharm as our seminar speakers.

Raj Desai is currently a Ph.D. student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy working under the direction of Dr. Steven Smith and Dr. Haesuk Park. He received his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the Institute of Chemical Technology in India and his Master’s in Pharmacy Administration from St. John’s University in New York. His current research interests include evaluating long term outcomes in patients with resistant hypertension and safety of Erythropoietin-Stimulating Agents in anemia care.  His seminar title is: Impact of Changes in Medicare Bundled Payment Policy for Erythropoietin Stimulating Agents on Anemia Care, Major Adverse Cardiovascular Events, and Mortality for Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis.

Phuong Pham  is a four year Ph.D. student at POP. She was trained as a pharmacist in Vietnam and received a Master of Science of Public Health degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham in 2016. Her research  interest is pharmacoepidemiology and drug safety and she has experience working on comparative effectiveness and safety research as well as drug-drug interaction study.  Her seminar title is: “Evaluation of natural language processing tool to extract patients’ age in the FDA adverse event reporting system.”
