POP Seminar: Earl Morris & Sebastian Jugl on Thurs, March 19, 2020

sebastian.Earl.AnnouncementPlease join us Thursday, 03/19/2020 for POP Research seminar of the Spring 2020, held from 1:00pm-2:30 pm in the Communicore Building, C1-04. We will be welcoming our graduate students Earl Morris and Sebastian Jugl as our seminar speakers.

Earl Morris is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy program at UF, working under the direction of Dr. Vouri. He received two bachelor’s degrees (one in Biological Sciences and one in Chemistry) from Arkansas State University in 2015. After completing his undergraduate training, he attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences where he graduated with a Master’s in Public Health and Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2019. He joined our program in the fall of last year, and his research interests include identifying and decreasing the prescribing of inappropriate medication in older adults. His seminar title is: “The Creation and Application of a Prescription Sequence Symmetry Analysis SAS Macro to Identify Prescribing Cascades: Exploring a Potential Beta Blocker – Lower-Extremity Edema – Loop Diuretic Prescribing Cascade.”

Sebastian Jugl is a first-year Ph.D. student in the Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy program at UF, working under the direction of Dr.Winterstein.  He received his Staatsexamen (pharmacy degree) in 2017 and his pharmacy license in 2019. He first encountered the POP department during a research internship in 2018 and joined the Department in Fall 2019.  Since joining POP, Sebastian has been engaged in the studies of evidence for Medical Marijuana, utilization patterns in hormonal contraceptives and utilization and drug safety studies in CDK4/6-Inhibitors.  His seminar title is: “A Systematic Review Of Efficacy and Safety For Cannabis And Cannabinoids In The Treatment Of Cancer-Related Pain.”
