POP Seminar: Faculty Candidate, Jinghuan “Serena” Guo, MD, M.P.H., Ph.D. on Thurs, 12/12/19

PGuo Announcmentlease join us on Wednesday, 12/12/19 for our POP Research Seminar, held from 9:30am-11:00am in the Communicore Building, Room C1-07. We will be welcoming our faculty candidate, Jingchuan “Serena” Guo, MD, M.P.H., Ph.D., as our seminar presenter.

Title:  “Using Machine Learning to Predict Mortality after a Nonfatal Opioid Overdose”

Jingchuan “Serena” Guo, MD, M.P.H., Ph.D. is a postdoctoral fellow at the Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing (CP3), University of Pittsburgh. She received her MD from Peking University (China) in 2014 and her Ph.D. in Epidemiology from the University of Pittsburgh in 2019. Her research interest is in advanced analytics (e.g., machine learning and causal inference methods) applied to problems in pharmacoepidemiology and health outcomes. Her Ph.D. research focused on utilizing longitudinal data to investigate factors and treatments that may impact on the development of diabetes complications, including using causal mediation analysis to estimate the cardioprotective effect of antihypertensives beyond lowering blood pressure and albuminuria. Her postdoc training has expanded her experience into the application of machine learning into large-scale datasets for risk prediction and for heterogeneous treatment effect estimation.
