UF leadership in the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology

UF Faculty and alumni took over several leadership roles in the society during the 35th International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology in Philadelphia.

 

Dr. Almut Winterstein, Professor and Chair of POP, was installed as the President of the International Society for Pharmacoepidemiology. She is the first UF professor to assume this responsibility in the history of the Society. Her term goes from August 2019 to August 2020.

Dr. Joshua Brown, Assistant Professor of POP, was elected as Co-Chair of the ISPE Academic Council. The mission of the Academic Council is to represent the academic members of the pharmacoepidemiology community and their interests within ISPE in order to serve as a forum for their concerns. The Council is chaired by Dr. Vicki Osborne, PhD alumni from the UF Department of Epidemiology.

Dr. Juan Hincapie-Castillo, Assistant Professor of POP, was elected as the Chair of the ISPE Latin American Regional Interest Group. The group’s mission is to promote learning of pharmacoepidemiology, to network, and to create a cohesive membership throughout the Latin American countries.

Along with Dr. Almut Winterstein, Dr. Juan Hincapie-Castillo also serves as co-chair for the 2020 ISPE Mid-Year Meeting in Orlando. University of Florida is hosting the international conference April 18-21, 2020.

UF alumni Caitlin Knox was elected Chair of the ISPE Education Committee and Dr. Donna Rivera was elected as co-chair of the Oncology Special Interest Group.
