Best Student Abstract Awards at 35th International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology in Philadelphia

Professor receives an awardCongratulations to Amir Sarayani, Thui Thai, and Juan Hincapie-Castillo for receiving awards for the best abstracts submitted by students / postdocs during the 35th International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology in Philadelphia. There are hundreds of student abstracts submitted for presentation at the annual meeting and the top three get recognized at the ICPE Awards Ceremony. This is the first time UF had two abstracts in the top three.

Thui Thai and Amir Sarayani, PhD students in the POP Department, received the second best student abstract award for their co-authored work titled “Risk of pregnancy loss in patients exposed to mycophenolate compared to azathioprine: a restrospective cohort study.”

Student receives an awardJuan Hincapie-Castillo received the third best student abstract award for his work titled “Use of joinpoint regression in drug utilization research: Post-tonsillectomy codeine use in pediatrics, United States (20025-2016).” Dr. Hincapie-Castillo submitted this work from his dissertation while he was still a PhD student at the POP Department. He is currently Assistant Professor in the Department and affiliate faculty with the Center for Drug Evaluation and Safety.
