Graduate student Ghadeer Dawwas wins ISPOR’s Best Student Poster Research Presentation

ISPOR, the professional society for health economics and outcomes research, awarded Ghadeer Dawwas, M.B.A., BSPharm, a graduate student in the department of pharmaceutical outcomes and policy, the Best Student Poster Research for the presentation she made at the organization’s 2018 conference in Baltimore May 19-23.

Dawwas, who works under the supervision of Haesuk Park, Ph.D., titled her award-winning research presentation “Comparative Effectiveness Of Apixaban Versus Warfarin For The Prevention of Recurrent Venous Thromboembolism And Cardiovascular Diseases In Patients With Venous Thromboembolism.”

The study evaluates the effectiveness of apixaban, a novel oral anticoagulant, for the long-term prevention of venous thromboembolism and cardiovascular diseases compared to warfarin.

The ISPOR Research Presentation Podium and Poster Awards were established in 1998 to recognize the scientific merit of podium and poster presentations at ISPOR’s conferences.
