POP Seminar Announcement: Yan Li and Sascha van Boemmel-Wegmann

The UF College of Pharmacy Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy welcomes Yan Li and Sascha van Boemmel-Wegmann as our January 16th, 2018 POP Seminar Presenters.

Yan Li is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcome & Policy at the University of Florida, College of Pharmacy. He received his Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, followed by a Master’s degree in Clinical Pharmacy from Peking University in Beijing, China. Yan’s research interests are in the areas of drug safety and effectiveness, quality of medication use and patient safety. He has experience woking with large healthcare databases including claims data, electronic health records and nationwide surveys. His dissertation will focus on the epidemiology and safety of skeletal muscle relaxants and concomitant opioids or psychotropic medications.

Sascha Wegmann is a fourth year Ph.D. student at the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy and the University of Florida. He received his degree as a licensed pharmacist in Germany in August 2012, after his study of pharmacy at the Heinrich-Hein-University in Dusseldorf, Germany. Post-graduation, he worked for two years as a registered pharmacist in a community pharmacy in Cologne, Germany. Besdies his recent training in pharmacoepidemiologic methods, his research interests include pharmacoeconomic modeling and pricing mechanisms of pharmaceuticals.
