At the recent 31st International Conference on Pharmacoepidemiology and Therapeutic Risk Management (ICPE) annual meeting in Boston, Yoonyoung Choi, a Ph.D. student in the Department of Pharmaceutical Outcomes and Policy, won the best poster award in the database spotlight session. This award recognized her research entitled “Development of a Risk Model for Drug-Associated Inpatient Falls,” under the guidance of Almut Winterstein, Ph.D., professor and interim chair of pharmaceutical outcomes and policy. Choi’s research was a part of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacist project.
Before Choi entered the Ph.D. program at the University of Florida in 2013, she received her pharmacy and master’s degrees in Therapeutic Pharmacy from Sookmyung Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea. She worked as vaccine medical science liaison at MSD (Merck) Korea, and as a clinical pharmacist at a local pharmacy. Choi’s research interests focus on safety and effectiveness of drugs and vaccines, and related economic evaluations.
